Latest Updates from Our Project:

1000 % Funded 🤯
over 4 years ago – Tue, Nov 16, 2021 at 01:46:23 AM

It's been less than a week since I anxiously clicked the launch button on this campaign and every day since then has continued to surpass even my wildest hopes. It’s been affirming to see so many people excited about preserving and celebrating the art of app icons. I've read every single tweet about this campaign and I hope you know how grateful I am for your support.

Today we blew past 1000% funded by more than 1000 backers. My mom was backer 1001.

I keep expecting things to slow down (and eventually they will), but you've all been an incredible force in sharing the project with your audiences. If you haven't already, please do consider dropping a link on a social media network (or dinner conversation) of your choice. The wishlist I had for campaign outreach is growing shorter 👇

  •  Get Fireballed (✅)
  • Get on Macrumors (⛔️)
  • Blow up on a Subreddit (⛔️)
  • Have an influential YouTuber talk about the book (⛔️)
  • Have a traditional media mention (Nytimes etc.) (⛔️)
  • Booksigning in Cupertino (⛔️)

Let me know if you can help with any of the above 😅

📚 Add-on books

A few people have asked how to secure more than one copy of this first edition print run and we've set it up so that you should be able to edit your pledges and add books as 'Add-ons'. Shipping for any book in addition to the first one is cheaper. While we don't have the final weight of the book yet, we do know that more than one book shifts us into the next shipping-cost-bracket— but it's not double up. So if you're looking for that one-of-a-kind gift or maybe just want one for the office, then add away.

🕵️‍♂️ Projects worth checking out

When you run a campaign you'll get a lot of people in your inbox who wants to collaborate. A few of those are geniuniely cool projects that wishes to do cross posting. I think this is a win-win. We get to tap into their audiences and expose them to the book and I get to surface some projects that I think look cool and that you might be interested in. Here's two that I really liked.

Snapback Slim Air - A Wallet for AirTags

Designed with minimalists in mind, this slim wallet can hold up to six cards, two bills and an AirTag. It's handcrafted in the USA from premium Italian leather. Even though their Kickstarter campaign has ended, you can order one from their website today!

Flipoflip® GEMS — Kinetic Skill Toy | Galactic Edition

Flipo Flip is an oddly satisfying and fun kinetic desk toy that flips, falls and rolls at the same time. Discover the new galactic pattern collection! Take it anywhere, learn new skills and explore endless possibilities of the motion. CHECK IT OUT HERE!

Thank you for being part of this.

Sincerely, Michael.

Thank You! ❤️

Yesterday was absolutely crazy and I want to thank every one of you for showing up for the launch, backing and sharing the project. A lot of thoughts go through your mind when you launch something you've worked on for this long and you put all of my doubts to shame with the incredible show of support, so THANK YOU!

Funded in 49 minutes

The iOS App Icon Book got funded in 49 minutes (!) and in the first 24 hours we blasted through 500% funding from more than 600 backers. The first production run of the book is secured.

I almost feel silly for posting this now — but a few weeks ago, when I was sitting down to record the Kickstarter video, I captured some thoughts about the campaign. I wanted to show an honest look into the sort of doubts you have before embarking on something like this. I also wanted to make sure that I thanked the people who have helped me get to this point. At the time I couldn't possibly imagine such a successful start to the campaign, but maybe exactly because of that, it makes sense to share it as we celebrate successfully reaching and surpassing the initial goal.

What's Next?

We still have 30 days left of crowdfunding! Growing the first production run beyond the goal was always a hopeful outcome. I hope you'll continue to support and share the campaign with your peers. I don't want to put unnecesary pressure on the campaign by introducing stretch goals, but know that every pledge goes towards scaling the production run and making the business side of things more viable. Can we reach a 1000 backers? Can we put this piece of art history in a 1000 homes and studios? With your help, maybe.

📦 If you want to help spread the word and write about this project, I have prepared a press kit with some nice assets. If you have any questions or comments reach out directly to me 💌 [email protected], here on Kickstarter or on Twitter. There's a lot of channels to keep track of right now, but I'll do my best to get back to everyone eventually.

Again, thank you for an unbelievable start to this venture.
